Exclusive Fall Wine Tour Coming Up

A thurse of grapes

Things have really slowed down here in the last couple of weeks. But that hasn’t stopped me from making plans for the fall.

Rainbird Excursions has scheduled a exclusive tour for September 23d to go to two of the best wineries on Vancouver Island and to our own Chase & Warren Estate Winery here in the Alberni Valley. The Zanatta Winery was the first Winery to open in the Island.

There is a fully-restored heritage restaurant complete with a papered chef preparing sumptuous lunches for the guests. The Southern European lunches are traditionally the big meal of the day. So be prepared for a feast. Nearby is the Godfrey-Brownell Winery.

They are also a class act and are operating in an environmentally sustainable manner. The estate is 105 acres of which 40% is given over to protecting the two salmon streams on the property. In addition to growing grapes, they are experimenting with olives and a selection of herbs.

The tour will wind up at the Chase & Warren Estate Winery, where you can compare and contrast our local wines with those you have tried from the more established wineries. Chase & Warren is one of the newest wineries on Vancouver Island, and the only one in the Alberni Valley.

They sold their first bottle of wine in 2003. The owner, Vaughn Chase, has built and financed the vineyard himself while working as a school teacher.

The tour will start in a leisurely way at 10 AM, and will return you to your vehicle by 5:30 PM, in time to finish your day with the Rotary Wine Festival that evening. This tour promises to be a memorable day for everyone who participates.

There is only room for 10 people at this point. Rainbird is offering this tour for $75.00 each, GST and tasting fees included. Lunch, however is not included.
